The bird called Kanagā is about the size of a magpie.

Instead of feathers, its body is covered with needles.
The needles are sharp at the tips, but flattened along the rest of their length, as if slightly crushed.

Each one is about 8 cm long, with a central width of about 2 mm.

Their color is reddish-brown.
A notable feature is that a fallen needle can be reattached to the body simply by piercing it back in.
Its skin is a light flesh tone, with a texture resembling firm kneaded eraser.t
The needles pulled from its body are stuck into a plastic round container of beet dressing,

as if kept for later.

The Meishin Kōshin Station charges 60 yen for the initial fare.
The station is wooden, old but well maintained.
The platform splits into a Y-shape, branching into two directions for inbound and outbound trains,

and the distance from the ticket gate to the stopping point of the train is unusually long.
It is a ground-level station built on a slightly elevated place,

so once you exit the ticket gate, you can see the scenery clearly.
It was evening after the rain, and the sky was a blue-pink color.

It is two stops to Meishin Kyōto Station, but since it is a line I have never ridden before, I feel uneasy.
Each interval between stations is extremely long, so if I board the wrong train,

it could become a serious problem.
According to Google Maps, this railway line runs in a perfectly straight line through the mountains.
